BWW Exclusive with Patina Miller! (mentions Jonathan & potenial Glee spoilers)

April 30, 2011

Broadway World interview with one of Jonathan’s friends Patina Miller. They ask her about Jonathan and talk a little bit of Glee!

PC: Tell me about your friendship with Jonathan Groff.

PM: He’s one of my best friends – we met during HAIR and we’ve just stayed close ever since. We bonded during HAIR and we’ve just never let go of one another. He is one of my closest friends and, I’ll tell you, when I went to London, we both had decided not to do HAIR at the same time. He was off doing his thing…

PC: GLEE.

PM: Right. And, then, I had gotten SISTER ACT. We had a powwow about it. He told me I was going to be fine. So, he came to London and visited me two weeks later so I got to spend time with him before I started the crazy London run. Then, a year a later, after being in London by myself and lonely and missing all my friends, Jonathan comes over with his show! So, we got to spend six months together there over the last year.

PC: What was that like?

PM: Oh, you know, it was really amazing having one of your best friends and someone who really knows you just there with you and able to experience it all, too. He was in the West End as well and we’d spend our days off shopping and having movie nights and just being friends and being there together. I am just so lucky and happy to have him in my life.

PC: Did you see him onstage in DEATHTRAP?

PM: I sure did!

PC: What did you think?

PM: He was frickin’ amazing! I was so proud to be in that opening night audience and looking around the audience and seeing their reactions to my friend. I was so proud. He did an amazing job and it was just great.

PC: And, he is returning to GLEE soon.

PM: As he should – because he was brilliant last season. Every scene he was in. Brilliant.

PC: He is a fan favorite.

PM: He is.

PC: I’ve heard he is killed off in a motorcycle accident on the show soon. I hope that’s not true, though.

PM: Oh, I hope not, too! Oh my gosh.

Jonathan Groff Will Return to “Glee” May 10

April 20, 2011

Most of you already know this but since Playbill did an article on it. It is below with the details of the final 3 episodes:

Original Spring Awakening co-stars Jonathan Groff and Lea Michele will be reunited once again.

Groff will reprise his role as Vocal Adrenaline performer Jesse St. James opposite the Rachel of Michele beginning May 10 in an episode of “Glee” titled “Prom Queen.”

In the episode, which begins at 8 PM ET, “Principal Figgins (guest star Iqbal Theba) asks New Directions to perform at the dance much to prom coordinator Sue’s dismay,” according to press notes. “Things get heated as the competition for prom king and queen draws closer, and Jesse St. James (guest star Jonathan Groff) returns.”

Groff will also be seen May 17 at 8 PM ET in an episode entitled “Funeral.” In the episode “New Directions continues to strategize their set list for Nationals with a little help from Jesse St. James (guest star Jonathan Groff). Meanwhile, an unexpected loss rocks the world of one of McKinley’s own.”….

….The season finale, which is scheduled for May 24 at 9 PM ET, will concern “New Directions [heading] to Nationals to compete in the ultimate singing showdown.”

In a recent interview with Playbill.com, Groff spoke about possibly returning to the hit TV series. “I had a blast on the show. I’d love to go back and do another episode,” Groff said. The rehearsal schedule for the music-filled series he admitted is “pretty intense. A normal television show is really intense because it moves so fast and you have no rehearsal and you just sort of show up and do the scenes, and it’s like a machine. … And then on ‘Glee,’ you add on to that going to the studio and recording your number, and if it’s a dance number, going to the rehearsal space and choreographing it, as well. So it’s just sort of throwing two more elements into that already packed schedule. I had an easier time because I was a guest star, so I got to breeze in and do a couple of numbers and breeze back out again, but for the members of the company that are there every day in the classroom, like Matthew [Morrison] and all of the kids, it’s a real grind for them, because even if that particular episode isn’t about them, and they’re not necessarily singing a lot in that episode, they’re still doing all those classroom scenes, and probably recording and choreographing whatever they’re doing for the next show. So, they’re kept very, very busy, and the schedule is very, very tight.”

“Glee” airs Tuesday nights at 8 PM ET on Fox.

Watch With Kristin: Spoiler Chat on Jesse St. James

April 12, 2011

In Watch With Kristin’s spoiler chat, she mentioned some Jesse St. James scoop:

kec0309: I need more #Glee scoop! What can we expect when Jonathan Groff returns as Jesse St. James?
Even though our first assumption would be that Jesse is returning to woo Rachel, he has another motive up his sleeve (which is most likely a leather jacket sleeve, of course). But don’t worry, Jesse’s motive isn’t evil. He’s just trying to help out a friend. But even if his motive was evil, who cares? The Groff is back!
