Bring Back Jesse St. James

March 12, 2011

We still have no real confirmation whether or not Jonathan is indeed back on Glee this season. Since the latest from E! Online and EW, there have been rumors from imdb that he will be back on 2×22 and from tumblr, he will be back on 2×17 and be in the remaining episodes. So who really knows but we do hope it is sometime soon and that his return is indeed this season. We all miss Jonathan on our tv screens!

There was a twitition created by @JesseBackToGlee recently. If you have twitter, make sure to sign it!

Paleyfestival for Glee is on March 16. So hopefully there will be news then!

Spoiler Chat: Is Jesse St. James coming back to Glee?

February 28, 2011

We all want Jonathan back on Glee and we will keep asking until we get a straight answer. Here is the latest. Nothing that we dont know already!

JolooZoombo (via Twitter): Jonathan Groff was spotted at an Oscar party with Lea Michele and the Glee kids. Is Jesse St. James coming back to Glee!?!?
Sadly, Groff’s presence does not mean he’s shooting a Glee ep right now. He’s still supposed to appear sometime on the show again sometime this season, but the insiders tell us that party time last night was just because he and Lea Michele are old friends from their Spring Awakening days.

Jonathan Groff Chats About Deathtrap, “Glee,” “The Conspirator” and “Twelve Thirty”

February 22, 2011

Jonathan Groff, the young singing actor who received a Tony nomination for his impassioned performance as the questioning student Melchior in the Tony-winning Spring Awakening, recently completed a six-month run in Matthew Warchus’ London production of Deathtrap, Ira Levin’s thriller about rival writers in a country house.

Prior to his final weekend in the production, which co-starred veteran actors Simon Russell Beale and Estelle Parsons, Groff explained to Playbill.com that his role in the London revival came about while he was “out in L.A. doing ‘Glee.’ My agent sent me the script with a little cover letter that said, ‘It’s six months in London. Matthew Warchus is directing, and Simon Russell Beale is starring in it,’ and he said, ‘Will you fly yourself back to New York to audition for this show next week?’ And, I didn’t even read the script. Based on London and Simon and Matthew, I said, ‘Yes, I’ll fly myself back for this audition.’ I read the play on the plane and loved it, and then auditioned for it and got it and came over here on July 10th, and I’ve been here since then, and I leave on Sunday morning!”

“One of the most exciting things about doing the play is that [the audience] screams every day,” Groff said. “Deathtrap is such an entertainment for the audience. It’s so created for them to make them react, whether it’s to laugh or scream or jump or sigh. You also have those great moments when …the audience gets ahead of your character on stage, and you get that [reaction of], ‘Oh! Mmm! Oooo!’ … It’s really fun to play because it’s just so satisfying to hear the audience making all those different sounds.”

Although the production was well-received by the critics — The Evening Standard’s Henry Hitchings said the play’s “brand of unapologetically giddy entertainment makes it sure to be a hit” — Groff feels that a New York transfer is unlikely. “There was [talk of Broadway] when we first opened. There was buzzing about, ‘Oh, this might go to New York!,’ and producers were coming over to look at it. I mean, who knows? Anything can happen, but I feel like if we were going, we would have found out by now, so I don’t think that it’s happening.

Jonathan Groff Injured Himself On Set

June 5, 2010

We love the high energy musical numbers the cast of Glee perform but sometimes they can be a tad dangerous.

Jonathan Groff who plays Vocal Adrenaline star, Jesse St James became victim to the high energy dance number they were performing for the final episode of Glee’s first season.

Talking to the Daily Mail, Jonathan, who has a 5 inch scare on his left arm said:

“I was singing the Queen song Bohemian Rhapsody, dancers were flying all over the place and a girl’s heel got stuck into me and drew blood.

“I was lucky, though. Some had bruises, there were a broken limb or two, others drew blood. It was like a scene from Gladiator.”

Now we know how dangerous the dance moves can be, we definitely won’t be trying them at home.

Broadway.Com – At Glee Concert, Lea Says “Hello” To Jonathan Groff

May 25, 2010

If you’re a Glee fan, the Gibson Amphitheater in Los Angeles was the place to be on May 22. That night, the audience at the newly launched Glee concert tour was treated to a special surprise guest: Jonathan Groff! After playing the recurring role of rival high school singing star Jesse St. James on the show, Groff joined his real-life best friend Lea Michele on stage for an impromptu duet of “Hello,” the first song they ever sang together on the hit TV show. Click on and take a listen to the song (and the screams of thousands of excited Gleeks). Doesn’t it take you back to Jonathan and Lea’s Spring Awakening days, just a little bit? Aww, come back to Broadway soon, guys!

I absolutely adore the two of them as friends. They are so cute.

Groff happily dropped into ‘hurricane’ that is Glee

May 21, 2010

According to Jonathan Groff, fans of TV’s Glee seem “OK” with his character Jesse St. James, a hated Glee club rival and romantic interloper.

“I haven’t been spit on yet,” laughs Groff. “And I got to say — I don’t see Jesse as a bad guy. I think maybe Rachel (Lea Michele) has found a match in Jesse. But that’s just me.”

Of course, it helps that Groff’s on-screen paramour is also his long time best friend. Groff and Michele worked the Broadway stage together years ago in a production of Spring Awakening.

“It was my first big break. And to be working with my best friend now doesn’t seem like work at all.”

It wasn’t a complete coincidence that they would end up on the same TV show. It was Groff who first introduced Michele to Glee creator Ryan Murphy. And when Murphy first mentioned he was working on a new show called Glee, he already had Groff in mind for a part.

Problem was Groff was initially tied up with another series pilot. But when that failed to catch on, Glee beckoned.

“A role was written specifically for me for the back nine episodes,” says Groff, whose late arrival has given him a unique perspective on the series’ rapid, overwhelming success.

“I saw Glee explode from my TV at home. Then I got dropped into the hurricane.”

So far, Groff counts his duet with Michele on Lionel Richie’s Hello as a show favorite. And his toughest musical moment? AC/DC’s Highway To Hell.

“I’m a singer before a dancer. Dancing is something that that doesn’t ever come easily.”

As for Jesse St. James’ future on the series, it’s up in the air. Though Glee was renewed for another season a long time ago (and was recently awarded the coveted time slot after next year’s Super Bowl), Groff isn’t sure what his role might be.

“Details for my involvement haven’t been worked out yet,” he says. “But I’d love to see Rachel and Jesse end up together.”

Glee airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. on Global.
