He may be a sweetheart in real life, but this singing/dancing/acting wonder is totally believable as Rachel Berry’s straight, self-absorbed paramour Jesse St. James on Glee. That makes Groff one of the select few out gay men to play a straight romantic interest on U.S. television.
Glee might have made him famous, but Groff was already well known in the theater world thanks to his lead role in Spring Awakening (also opposite Lea Michelle). He’s also made independent films and recently starred in the London West End revival of Deathrap.
We love his smile, his brown curls, and most definitely his voice. Like Rachel Berry, we too would put up with the insufferable Jesse St. James if only he promised to sing to us!
